Date calculation - work days only

I found the formula for date calculation (today's date minus 2 days is =[First Test Date]5 - 2 in my case). But I want to make sure it's calculating only work or week days. Is that possible? Thanks, Jennifer

Let me clarify, I'm not trying to count the number of days, I'm trying to figure out a due date. So I have a date in my spreadsheet called First Test Date. I need to calculate what our due date is based on that date. It needs to be two working days before First Test Date.

you could set a dependency for the Due Date task on the First Test Date of SS-2d.  You need to make sure you have tured on dependencies and have set up your working days correctly in the project.

Thank you for your suggestion Larry, but because there are no other "rows" associated with the date, I don't think I can do this. The two dates are in the same row. Do you know a way around this?

The only thing I can think of is to use your single row as a summary task and create two sub tasks under it for Due Date and First Test date.  Then you could use the Predecessor dependency as noted.

Hi Jennifer,

I believe the function you want is: WORKDAY().

 

WORKDAY([First Test Date]5, -2) will return the date which is two workdays (or three depending on how you calculate days) before the date in row 5 of column [First Test Date].

Smartsheets calculates using Duration instead of Work which in short creates an erroneous % complete.   Is there a way to calculate % complete base on work not duration.  Its a vastly different status  for a task that may be 16 hours but executed over a 10 day Period.
