Keep grid view as default, but save out a card view version

Is it possible to save a card view out of a sheet, but maintain the grid view version as the primary?

OR

save a running duplicate of the same sheet to have one as grid and the other card?

IF that is not possible, what is the best alternate?

    Hi Baker,

If I understand your question correctly, you intend to save details in Card View but always open the saved sheet in Grid view. The default view will be a grid view for most sheets. However, Smartsheet always opens up the view in which you last saved and closed it.

If you want one set of users to view in Grid vs another set in Card view, you can set up two identical sheets and which ever gets updated can be linked to send the updated values to another through cell links. However, there are limitations to inbound and outbound cell links that you should be mindful of.

If it is not a big hassle, you can maintain one sheet and the users have the liberty to change the view to which they are most comfortable.

    Thanks,

    Hi @Baker VDC

To add to this, you can adjust the Default View of your sheet by clicking the blue Share button and adjusting the settings at the bottom of this window (see this Help Article for more details).

Another way to have two views of the same sheet would be to Publish the sheet (see here) with a default view to Card view.

Finally, you could create a Report (see here) out of the sheet to show specific rows in Grid View, then have the Sheet be seen in Card View. This would allow users to update the Report and have it update the underlying sheet automatically.

If none of these work for you, it would be helpful to know a bit more about your specific process/sheet set up so that we can help come up with other solutions. Screen captures would be ideal, but please block out any sensitive data!

    Cheers,
