Report: Sheet Summary - Update Field from Report

I'm trying to find a workaround the lack of functionality in Update Requests. I have a Sheet Summary field called "Project Update" where our Project Lead is expected to put a brief statement on their project weekly. That field feeds up to the Project Dashboard and, subsequently, a Portfolio Dashboard to provide an update to department heads. Right now, there's no automation to remind the Project Lead to update the Sheet Summary field each week as Update Requests cannot be sent on Sheet Summary fields.

So I thought about creating a Report to pull in the Sheet Summary fields of the relevant projects and then send the report to the Project Leads weekly. Most reports allow the user to update a field on the source sheet from the report. It doesn't appear that it's possible to pull a report of Sheet Summary fields and update those fields from the Report - is that true?
