Checking Off All Child Rows When a Parent Row Is Checked

Good afternoon

We need to be able to archive scope items from our sheet . Each Scope item a child parent relation ship

We want to be able to check off the children with the parent is checked off so we used =parent(), however when I try to click the parent row it is not allowing me

Am I doing something wrong ?

You can't use a column formula and also have the option to check a box in the same column.

How would I write a formula for a column that if the parent is checked then the children will check to?

Easy to miss!

You can't use the column formula feature for it at all because it's all or nothing, so you would either need to add the same formula to each child row or use a so-called helper column.

Would any of those options work?

I too need to be able to check the parent check box (N/A) and all children rows are then automatically checked. Further explanation would be that I check the N/A box for the dark red "Scrub Procedures" and all children boxes are automatically checked below as N/A.
