User icons grey out
Hello,
We've notice that about half our users no longer have their initials show up as part of their user icons, and instead these appear to be grey out.
All of them are still active and we have not changed anything. Anybody else have this issue and a fix?

I've never noticed it.
If you haven’t already, I would recommend that you reach out to the Smartsheet Support Team.

Did you ever receive any input as to why this is happening? I'm having a similar issue with some of my users. It appears they may not be receiving auto-notifications even though I have the sheet set to unrestricted.
Appreciate any insight. @Andrée Starå have you seen anything additional on this issue?

I've seen this same image (greyed out with a line) when the contact's personal Profile image was imported from another app (e.g. clicking the "Get photo from Google"), then the photo was deleted.
I would ask the contact to check their Personal Settings to see if there's a Google icon next to the greyed contact photo. If there is, clicking on that icon may allow them to manage their contact there.
If they don't have an icon there, they should still be able to edit this in their personal settings. To add or update personal profile details:
- Click Account > Personal Settings.
- Select Profile from the left panel.
- Make the desired changes to your profile and click Save.

Thank you, Genevieve. It sounds like the greyed out icon is not associated with any functional specifications/restrictions for the contact and merely corresponds to the profile image. Thanks for the information!
