Dynamically populate a drop-down list

Hello,

I have two related questions:

1. Is it possible to dynamically populate values in a drop-down list by referencing values from a specific column from either same sheet or another sheet?
2. Once a drop-down value is selected in a web form, is it possible to populate values for related fields in a web form?

This has to be one of the biggest failings of SmartSheet.

In 18 months Smartsheet has become a key application within our business but data integrity is suffering with dual keying.

Is there a way to see the enhancement list ? What priority this has ? and anything that com be done to push this up?

I am aware this functionality has been requested for at least a couple of years. As Product Manager I understand that some things will just never make it to production. Please be can you let me know if this is one of those cases?

Yeah, I must admit, this is a critical feature. Is there any possible way around this? Some sort of work-around someone has come up with until the feature is added?

This has been something Excel can do with its eyes closed, and people have been asking for SmartSheet to do FOR YEARS.

I'm not going to bother putting in an enhancement request. Thousands, including me at least once, have already done so, to no avail.

Now I'm being told you can get this feature, but only by paying a 5 figure fee for a premium add-on? Wow......

Hi @Dennis Wierzbicki, Agree, this is very basic feature that should exist by default. Smartsheet should be able to achieve it easily, provided they want to build this feature.

Sadly, it appears that this very basic feature is being ignored, and I have to wonder if its to accommodate the consultants who are charging a premium for add-ons that provide this functionality.

I'm all for supporting consultants (I'm one myself!), but this is a key capability that shouldn't require an external solution.

Google Sheets does this beautifully allowing named ranges to be used as the source of a drop-down list.

I really like the Smartsheet platform, but I am bumping into major things like this regularly which prevent full enterprise-wide adoption

Nearly 10 years since I first used Smartsheet and we needed this back then. Not sure whether to be shocked or saddened that this still isn't fixed. Is there an official statement from Smartsheet on why this basic functionality is not being added? I can't even find a register of potential upgrades.

@Andrée Starå how do you use Datashuttle to do this? I've seen it mentioned in a few threads but am unsure how to go about getting the drop down updated. Thanks!

To clarify, it will not update them dynamically; for example, if you add a new project, it would update the Dropdown list in one or multiple sheets.

Make sense?
