Allow data entry only if another column is not empty


Hi everyone,

To help you understand, our business is about rentals. In our sheet, we have columns for:

  1. Date the contract was issued
  2. Date "from" (when the rental starts)
  3. Date "to" (when it ends)

I am trying to find a way to allow Data entry in columns 2 & 3 only if there is a date in column 1.

If column 1 is empty, employee should not be able to fill in column 2 & 3.

I have read about dependencies but it seems to only be helpful for cell automations which is not really my goal here as "date from" and "date to" are random.

Would you have any advice on how I could achieve the above?
