Where is form data being added if the primary column is sorted alphabetically?
If I use a form to add information to my spreadsheet and my primary column is sorted alphabetically. Will the new entry be added to the bottom of the spreadsheet (as noted on the form) or inserted within the spreadsheet according to the alphabet?
Thanks for your assistance.

Unfortunately, it's not possible at the moment to sort the sheet automatically, but it's an excellent idea!

The report would help with viewing the data alphabetically, but the sheet wouldn't update. The report is another view of a sheet or multiple sheets.

Try deleting the empty rows, and then it should "reset" so the next row comes correct.
Did it work?

It will be added at the top or bottom according to the form settings.
I hope that helps!

Hi Andree, does that mean I have to hit "sort ascending" every time, so that the new data row sorts itself alphabetically in-between?
-
Unfortunately, yes.
I'd recommend using a report instead if that's an option.
Would that work?

I don't think I can envision this right now. My main sheet has company information. The company name is the primary field and it's sorted alphabetically. The project manager uses a form to add new companies to the list. I would like the new companies to sort alphabetically in the sheet and not be added to the bottom. How could a report help me with this?
Would I have to create another spreadsheet to collect the new company details, which are then pulled into the main spreadsheet?

No problem, Andree. Will submit an enhancement request.
I am asking, because my new requests are not added to the bottom of the sheet, they are added down into column 325, although I only have 36 rows populated thus far.
I was able to bring the new additions into the mix, because I sorted alphabetically.
I just don't know why the form thinks, that my spreadsheet has data in the rows 37 to 324. Thoughts on how to solve the mystery?
