WorkApps Permissions

I'm setting up my first proper workapp, but I'm having trouble getting access permissions to work.

I've set up a test user(free unlicensed user), added them as a viewer in the View role and even granted them view access to workspace containing all the base documents.

However I keep geting: You're almost ready to use this app. To use this app in Workapps, please request the app owner for access.

If I press request, I get nothing, no notification. The user is on the list of view users, so I don't understand why I cannot access it.

Is there a permission I missed?

Edit: I'm also getting this when I add someone.

"Give app access to people below with free accounts by having your System Admin to unlock the WorkApps collaborator access."

I can't seem to find this setting either.

  • Hi @GrahamR

The reason you're receiving this error is due to the user-type that you are testing with. WorkApps can be shared to licensed users of any Smartsheet plan.

However since you are testing with a free user without a license, your organization would need to have purchased the WorkApps collaborator pack as an add-on.

See this article for more information or for details on how to contact Sales if this collaborator pack is something you're interested in: Share a WorkApp and Ensure Access for All Collaborators.

    Cheers!
