Control Center Project Plan doesn't update Master Summary Rollup sheet until project plan is saved.
I have a formula on the project plan template which uses the TODAY() fx to identify when tasks are at risk because they are overdue. Project plans are linked in Control Center to a master rollup. The risk flag doesn't link until the project plan has been opened and saved.
Is there a fix for this? The problem is the portfolio manager is monitoring the rollup and if a PM has not opened the plan, the risk flag won't be seen.
Does the TODAY() fx not work until opened and therefore the link is irrelevant?

Hi @Robin Brown
I hope you're well and safe!
Yes, one of the following actions has to be taken.
Smartsheet will update all instances of the TODAY function in a sheet to the current date when any of the following actions are taken:
- You open the sheet and save it
- You add a new row to the sheet from a form submission
- You make changes to the sheet from an update or approval request (more on these alerts here)
- You update the sheet by way of a report (more on reports here)
- A linked cell updates the sheet (more on cell linking here)
- You open the sheet being referenced in a cross-sheet formula (more on cross sheet formulas here)
Please have a look at my post below with a method I developed to update the sheet(s) daily.

You can also get a sheet to update automatically by creating 2 automations that run early in the morning
1) create an automation that Locks rows. I usually tell it to lock all rows where my primary column is not blank. I set this to run at 1 AM
2) Create an automation to Unlock rows. Same criteria as the Lock Row automation, but set it to run at 2 AM.
I've tried doing it as 1 automation where the first action was to lock the rows, and the 2nd was to unlock them, but it didn't work right. I find this way works consistently, and all my Today() formulas get updated
