Request an Update Workflow

I don't get why the Request an Update workflow does not have a "Save Response in" option similar to an approval workflow.

Upon decline, I want the response of the approver (ie the reason for the decline) to be recorded to a specific column (say: Approval Status) and when the person sending the original approval, corrects the issue and provides a response (ex: Fixed the issue), I want this response to override the previous response in the Approval Status column and get recorded there.

Can someone post a workflow to achieve this? Thanks,
