Default value in drop down

Hello,

I have created a form that feeds information back to the sheet and I want to add a column in the sheet (it will not be displayed on the form) that will display the status (new, received, approved, closed). So I have added a column with dropdown but I need it to display automatically the status "New" every time a new line is added. Then the status will be changes manually every time there is progress.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

It will work if you add the column to the form, hide it and then set the Default Value to New.

It would be great if this was possible in the sheet itself though.
