Aligning Text in a cell
Can you help he achieve this format? My sheet has a long columns make it difficult to scroll to see details.
So I am creating a column to concatenate values to easily see all values within the row. But I cant align them like below. Do you have any idea how to achieve this? Thanks
Expense 1: Expense value 1 Vendor: vendor value Line Amount: 1000
Expense 1: Expense value 1 Vendor: vendor value Line Amount: 1000
Expense 1: Expense value 1 Vendor: vendor value Line Amount: 1000

Are you able to provide a screenshot that shows what you are currently getting?

Hi Paul,
I just separate them with CHAR(5).
-
But you are wanting to separate them using additional spaces?
Unfortunately Smartsheet will only display up to a single space even if you have multiple spaces in between when you go to edit the text.

Yes, I want additional spaces or tab to separate them to be more organize to look at. I see that there's no way to achieve this.

I am not sure if there is a CHAR or UNICHAR function that would enter a tab.

Hiya,
Just jumping in here... what about CHAR(10)?
It won't create a tab within the same line, but it will create a line-break if you use wrap-text on the cell. Would that work?

@Genevieve P I actually meant to suggest that but got sidetracked. Thanks!

Hi,
I used CHAR(10) to separate expense 1 to expense 2 row but the tab i want to achieve should be in the same line . Do you have other recommendation to achieve the nearer format above. Thanks guys for the quick feedback.
-
Haha no problem! It's not an exact fix but it could help with identifying the separate values.
-
Sorry @Marvin, I didn't see your most recent comment.
I don't know of a way to format the cell to have extra spaces like above; you would need a different character to space out the values.
How about an underscore? CHAR(95)
-
No Prob @Genevieve P, i'd still choose CHAR(5) to separate them....
Thanks for the help... Hope Smartsheet will come up with a solution :)

It looks like UNICHAR(9) is supposed to be a "tab", but when entering into SS it treats it as a single space. I'll keep on digging because now I am curious.

Please do, @Paul Newcome! I'd love to know what you find out.

I just did a test sheet and looked through the first 5,000 UNICHARs. I didn't see anything where SS was displaying the larger "tab" gap that you are looking for.
