Approvals for multiple lines

I've seen this question asked a few times and I understand it isn't possible to set up a workflow to approve multiple lines as once, but a comment that has appeared as a workaround is to use a report to mark the lines as approved, declined, etc.

I am relatively new to Smartsheet and don't understand how to make this work. Is there anyone that could give me some tips or point me in the right direction for a training course that would cover this solution.

You would create a report that shows only those rows that are pending approval. Whoever needs to approve would need to have at least editor rights on both the sheet and the report. Then they can access the report to see a "filtered" view of what is outstanding and update each row directly from there.

Thank you for replying.

Is there a way to automate sending the report? That way I could use a check box as the Approval field, maybe use the "Request an Update" feature instead of the instead of "Request an Approval"

Perhaps I am looking at this the wrong way, but I am looking for a work around to be able to send multiple lines for approval with out the Approvers receiving an email for each line...ideally they could open a report or form and indicate their approval (or not) for all the lines in one spot.

Yes, you could use the Update Request feature instead.
