Approval Confirmation did not update Smartsheet approval column

Hello
I kicked off an approval request and the response column automatically updated to show "submitted".
The reviewer clicked the "approve" button but my Smartsheet did not change "submitted" to "approved". The reviewer tried it again but it says the button does not work because it has already been used. This is strange - and was working before. I checked Smartsheet's status page and it says everything is working. Any ideas?

Is it possible that you have two Approval workflows set up on your sheet using the same column to record approvals?
If so, try using different approval values for each workflow (edit dropdown column properties > add new dropdown values > edit workflow > approval action block > advanced options > customize status and buttons > "save status as" new values).
If this wasn't the issue, I agree with Paul that this may be best reviewed by Support through a private channel so you can provide them with screen captures of your sheet, the approval email, the approval workflow set-up, and the sheet name.

I checked all of my approval workflows and they each point to a unique column to record the response.
I contacted Support.
