Can existing information in a Smartsheet be updated using forms?

We are planning to capture application specific data such as app name, contact info, platform, programming language and some other relevant info. We have some of this information already and some of it needs to be captured. We were wondering if it is possible to pre-fill the information we have and then send a form out to our application contacts to fill out the rest. I am hoping we can target a field say "Application Name" to be selected from the dropdown on the form and once selected other pre-filled information from that row in the Smartsheet is populated on the form and rest can be filled in by the contact. is that possible?

It's possible, but I would recommend using an Update Request workflow instead.

Hi, thanks for the information.

We were able to create an update workflow by adding a contact field in the smartsheet who we can send an email to update a specific row on the smartsheet. But we are struggling with the triggering of it. Seems like if we selected the workflow to be run "When triggered" we need to trigger it via form by adding a contact information and click submit. With couple of 100 rows that seems not practical. Is there a way to send an update to folks assigned as the contacts for their specific rows for the whole smartsheet? How can we use daily or weekly triggers?
