What is the Lock Rows For in Workflow?

Hello,
in an attempt to not allow recipients to make changes on an update request in workflow. I was told to lock it but not sure what that meant (i.e. source sheet or the below). I just wanted recipients receiving this email notification to see the information not make any updates. Anyway, I came across a lock row when in the workflow but it does not make sense as to what it does and if it can help me with the read only attempt notification I am trying to create with the update request step.
Thank you.

I believe I answered your question in regards to "locking columns" to ensure that Update Request fields can't be edited in this post here:
Do you have additional questions after taking a look at that Help Article?
The "lock row" workflow will lock an entire row based on a set condition; for example, you can set it to lock a row once a status has turned to "Complete" so that none of your Editors can make changes after that point.
Cheers,
Genevieve

Hi @MONICA BUENDIA
Hope you are fine, if you want your recipients to see the information not make any updates then the user then you need to use the Automated alerts workflow and adds the fields you want them to saw.
