Cross-sheet reference limitation
Hello there,
I have a question about "cross-sheet reference" limitation. I receive the attached error message.
I know there are limitation of number of references, however I could no find a rational for this error. I already created a sheet using a lot of references. Today I am trying to add another reference, but I receive this error message. When I delete some other references to open some space for the references, system does not let me add the new one, Even if delete a large number of references (here; 500 references), I can not add 1 new reference.
Does any one know the reason?

Hi @Mehran
I hope you're well and safe!
You've probably reached the limit of 100 cross-sheet reference ranges.
Have you checked the reference manager and deleted any of them?
Did that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Thank you for your reply. I checked the reference manager. I reached the limitation, and it will provide some problems for me. Can you please let me know the below limitation mentioned in Smartsheet? The first point is what you mentioned, what is the second one?
- Each sheet can include no more than 100 distinct cross-sheet references.
- There’s a limit of 100,000 inbound cells that can be referenced from other sheets into one sheet in total.

Actually, my question is that, how is it possible I bring in 100,000 cells into one sheet, without having a cross-sheet reference? The limitation is 100.
With any cross-sheet reference, I can link just one cell. How could it be 100,000 cells?

Happy to help!
The cross-sheet reference is a specific range, and it can be cells or columns.
Make sense?
More info.
