Dashboards on TV without computer

Hello Everyone. I was wondering how I can show / broadcast a dashboard on a TV without a computer..

Currently we are using a device called Airtame to view the published link on our tv, This solution is working great. However the players can be costly, especially with multiple locations. The only fee is the player itself.

I have also tried to use the web browsers on smart TVs and a firestick. However we had a problem with the browsers resolution. We could not change the resolution on the browser to show the dashboard correctly.

I recently researched cloud base digital signage apps that can be used on firesticks and other media players. However there is a monthly fee.

Any ideas or solutions is appreciated. Thank you.

we implemented tiny chromebooks (minimal specifications) that are mounted in the back of the TV's and they work perfect.

Wireless so no need for wires

So small factor that is out of reach

No need for keyboard and mouse once implemented

    I hope this help,

    Regards

    Hi @BD,

I use Raspberry Pis (https://www.raspberrypi.org/) to display dashboards on TVs. They are very cheep and easy to update.

If a Pi is going to be used as a dashboard, I set it up in Kiosk mode (https://pimylifeup.com/raspberry-pi-kiosk/) and load in the dashboard(s) URLs.

Thank you Garrett and Alex. We decided to go with the Raspberry Pi option.

Has anyone had luck using a BrightSign player to show live dashboards? I have been trying to use a series 5 brightsign to show our dashboard, however the screen just gives a connectivity error from SmartSheets (See attached).

I'm using the Publishing Link generated from the dashboard. The link is sharable to anyone who receives it, so no account needed. I tested that from another computer using Chrome and my phone.

It's worth noting that brightsign uses Chromium to display webpages, so it should react similar to Chrome when rendering the HTML file. It's also worth mentioning that I'm able to reach any other website including SmartSheet.com via the same methods as the Dashboard link. The only issue I have otherwise, is not being able to log in with my Smartsheet Credentials when using the BrightSign. Again, I think it's a chromium issue, but want to be sure. Any thoughts!?

    Hello Strefnoff,

I have the exact issue when using a XT4 player that is supposed to be capable of rendering in 4k. I think the Chromium browser has an issue with some JavaScript code that the Dashboard uses. The other thing I have yet to test is if the Dashboard will load when the resolution is set to 1080p. Have you tried that yet?

We ended up replacing all of our Raspberry PIs that we use to display Smartsheet Dashboards with Windows Machines. We started having issues displaying our dashboards a few months ago. So far, we have not had any issues. We are using Windows 11 Pro Mini computers.
