Hello I was able to resolved the original issue.
I am working on Task Roll Up Report, and its not capturing - Complete, In Progress items from my Project plan. Attaching screen shot of my Plan sheet and Task Roll up . I made sure there is not confidential information is visible

Resolved... I needed to add Complete, In Progress etc. in a Summary sheet to my plan. Thanks!

In the case you have a "parent / child relationship"; what formulae do you use on the Project Summary, to sum the total line items NOT Including the Parent?

Hi @CJU,
You'd need to add a so-called helper column and then reference it in the SUMIF formula.
Something like this.
I usually add a so-called helper column called Level with the formula below, and then you can use it to identify parents and use it for conditional formatting and more.
=IF(COUNT(CHILDREN([Task Name]@row)) > 0, COUNT(ANCESTORS()) + 1)
