Form results to email alert
Hi, is it possible to convert the results of a form to a pdf document for emailing? Currently when the form is submitted, an Alert action sends an email of the results to our helpdesk program but there is no formatting and it is hard to read.
Thanks

Hi @Tim King
I hope you're well and safe!
Unfortunately, it's not possible now to automate it in Smartsheet, but it's an excellent idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
Here's a possible workaround or workarounds
- Workflow with an alert combined with the placeholder feature to make it look nicer
- Document Builder to create and send a PDF manually
Would any of those options work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

The workarounds look interesting but I'm not familiar with placeholders or document builder. Can you provide any resources where I can read up on them?
-
Yes, I'd be happy to.
Here you go.

The Document Builder looks promising, but I don't see how it will save time when I have to create another fillable pdf form which is not that easy
-
You'd only need to create the PDF template once, and then the information from Smartsheet would fill in automatically.
Make sense?
Would that work?

Do you have any suggestions on the easiest way to create a PDF form template?
-
I usually do it with Adobe Acrobat or PDF Pen.
I'd recommend starting with a Word/Excel file and then convert it and make it a PDF form template.

Hi, I was able to create a pdf fillable form and performed the mapping. How do I automate the emailing of that mapped form when a new record is added?
