Barcode scan into a Dropdown cell on a webform

Is there any reason why when i change a column to dropdown format, the barcode scanner doesnt show up for that cell in the webform?

We have team members scanning a product barcode into a webform on delivery to record the expiry date. Due to the sensitive nature of the scanner, and some team members not being as particular as others, we have issues with the barcodes coming through incorrectly. So i have changed the cell to a dropdown and have linked it to a column in another sheet that has the SKU & Name so they know when theyve selected the right product. (Ive used ddupdate.com). However have realised that they team member would have to manually type the barcode to select the right product, unless i install a barcode scanner keyboard which doesnt suit as often team members are using a personal device.

@Genevieve P. Noticed your input on one of my other threads about printing grouped reports and wondered if you could see if this feature is on the development path at all yet please! I'm needing to be able to search for and select a product from a dropdown list by scanning the product barcode..
