Automated workflow - back up approver

Is there a way to assign a backup approver in a configured automated workflow in Smartsheet if someone happens to be out or on vacation?

There isn't a setting in the Smartsheet Application to have a backup approver for when someone is on PTO. However, if you have that user's emails automatically forwarded to someone else, this other user will be able to open up the Approval Form via the forwarded email and submit the approval on their behalf.

Keep in mind that this submission will show as the original Approver in the sheet and in the cell history. You may want to ask the person subbing in to leave a comment with each approval so it can be reviewed when the original user returns.
