Can a field have a formula, and be editable??
I'm a relatively new user of Smartsheet, and am amazed at both its capabilities and the engaged community -- I've found answers to every question I've had. Until now...
I have a solution I'm creating where there are multiple fields for components that make up a product. Because not all fields are necessary for every product, I created a formula to apply "N/A" based upon values in other fields. However, this is preventing user entry in an Update Request into the field where needed.
Is there a way to have a column formula, but allow user entry (via an Update Request)?

Hi @Mark Agee
I hope you're well and safe!
Unfortunately, it's not possible now to have a formula and also be able to edit the cells, but it's an excellent idea!
Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.
Here's a possible workaround or workarounds
- You could use a Workflow combined with the change cell action.
Make sense?
Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks for the response @Andrée Starå!
My workaround was to remove my formula from the Buyer Initials column, and create another helper checkbox column (BOM x Complete) that had the same formula, PLUS a condition to look for Buyer Initials in the original Column.
The new checkbox column was then employed for subsequent alerts.
Thanks again for your insight!
Best Regards,
Mark
