How to show drop-down selections in children rows on parent row?

Hello -

I have a Parent Row that is an Item (Hardware & Tools) and children rows that have specific departments associated with each hardware/tool listed. Is there a way the parent row will automatically show every department that is selected in the children rows? Screenshot below:

So on the hardware & tools parent row I want it to show: Front of House, Hardware and Upholstery because each of those departments have been selected in the corresponding children rows. Currently, I manually added the Front of House and Hardware departments on the parent row but was wondering if there was a formula that would do this for me as this will be a working document with items being added for different departments on a daily basis.

Try something like this.

=JOIN(DISTINCT(COLLECT(CHILDREN(), CHILDREN(), ISTEXT(@cell))), CHAR(10))

@Andrée Starå I have used this function, but it only returns a single value in the parent row despite multiple selections

You'd need to use a JOIN COLLECT combination instead.
