I have a form set up for submissions about the event.
How do I set up the metric sheet and which formulas to count submissions each day/ week to appear on the chart to show on the dashboard.

The easiest thing to do may be to actually create a Report from this sheet instead of formulas. Then you can Group by the Date column and use the Summary to Count so you can see how many submissions came in each day. Here's a webinar that goes through how to use Grouping and Summary in a Report.
Once you have a Report set up with Grouping and Summary, you can use this as a source for a Chart Widget. Would that work for you?
Hi @Genevieve P. This is helpful but I'm using the created column and as it has a time as well as a date its counting each one individually. What's the solution here. I've heard of a helper column that is maybe the answer. If so how would it use it and is there a formula to turn the created date and time into just a date?
Yes, a helper column would be a great solution! Add a new Date Column to your sheet, then use the following formula as a Column Formula:
See: DATEONLY Function. Replace [Created Date] with your created system column name.

Thanks for the advise. I am using the formula =DATEONLY([Date created]@row) and I just get #INVALID?

Are you entering the formula into a Date type of column?
I suppose you could enter it into a Text/Number column, but you'll need to add +"" to the end of your formula to turn the date into text.
I've been trying to do a simple check of whether or not the entry from the form has a returned value that is either yes or no and it checks 3 cell locations to see if any returned yes. The 3 columns are Dropdown lists for Yes/No and the Status is a Text/Number, is that the issues? If not how do i fix that?
I'm wondering if there is a way to lock rows 1-12 out of the sorting and filtering of a sheet. I might have take out that part of the from otherwise I dont like how the built in dashboard moves when a sort or filter is applied?
