Add External Placeholder to Smart Sheet Form

Hi there,

I'm wanting to embed a simple SmartSheet Form in another program either via link or embed.

The other system has placeholder tags which I would like to use.

I can't figure out how to make it work so that the placeholders get pulled through to the form.

Here's a link to the help info from the other system.

Is there a specific field I should use to do this?

Hey Andrew,

I did end up figuring this out.

The placeholders from the other system are used in the URL

This was the best example I could find. https://www.laserfiche.com/ecmblog/tech-tip-using-url-parameters-to-pre-fill-form-fields/

Essentially it enabled me to fill in the "form fields" using data from the system.

Then, that data gets sent back to smartsheet.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, it's not possible now, but it's an excellent idea!

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.

Here's a possible workaround or workarounds

• Smartsheet API
• Specific web development (I think I've seen something in the Community similar to your use case. I'll get back to the post if I find it)

Are any of those an option?

I misunderstood and thought you wanted it the other way.
