COUNTIF with OR statement

Hi! I'm trying to count the number of cells from two different check box columns (cross-sheet reference) which show a check in either one of the columns. I'm getting an UNPARSEABLE error. Could you help me out with this? Thanks!

does your countif formula work when you just use 1 range? w/out the OR embedded

Do you really need the OR embedded? What if the checkbox is clicked in both ranges? Are you expecting the count to give back a total for both ranges? You would use SUMIF formula in that case.

Yes, the formula works for just one criteria. But I do need answer for if EITHER or both of the boxes are checked. Thanks!
