Card View not showing in the right lanes

Hi, I have a sheet organised with projects and people assigned to projects. When I go to card view and select organise by the names of project leads it is not showing a lane for at least one persons name event though their name is clearly entered in the project lead field on the original sheet. Can anyone help me work out why this is happening

yep - it's showing most of the names but not all - I have managed to add them by using the + a lane function on the far right hand side but dont understand why they were not picking up in the first place
