The friendly "Name via Smartsheet" is randomly changing
Haven't had this problem in the 7 months of using Smartsheet, but now the automated alerts are randomly changing from me as the owner of the sheet to other users. Instead of an alert coming from "Deanna Layton via Smartsheet", they are randomly coming from other members of my team. Help! I can't even find where to change the "from" address... so don't know where it is picking up various names.

The name comes from the owner of a sheet, so if someone else is "Owner" for the sheet, their name will be sent in the "XX via Smartsheet" email. The email address associated with the process will remain the same though so you may want to isolate that for usage in any extra automation.

@Parker Oxford Thanks for the quick response. What is puzzling to me is that I am the owner on that sheet and the other team members are editors. Why would it pick up somebody else's name?

@Parker Oxford I'm not exactly sure what you mean by how is the automation set-up but this is my format.
"When rows are added or changed" when a column changes to a "yellow" symbol automation is triggered.
then two conditions, when a column is one of [team members name dropdown] ... or when another column is is one of [team member name dropdown]
then Alert Someone message is activated to the Send to specific people dropdown.
I am the owner of this sheet. Thanks any and all help is appreciated.

My only other assumption is that depending on who made changes to the sheet, their name is likely the one in the automation email. Is this the result that you've been seeing?

@Parker Oxford even after reviewing the cell change history within the row, I can't make the connection between the name picked up and the team members who made changes on that row. Could it be who is active in the sheet at the time?

This issue hasn't resolved. Any other solution ideas?

I am unsure as to what causes the name in the email at this point. May be best to contact support to get more insight from the internal team.
