% Complete automatic calculation but restrict the input on the child level tasks

Hi,

I have a % Complete column right with automatic calculation of % Complete on parent level tasks. This automatic calculation is based on user input of duration and percentage completion on each of the child level tasks. Now I want to restrict the user input of percentage completion on child level tasks to a certain list (such as 100%, 50%, 25% or 0%) instead of any value user want (such as 92.9%). How can I do it?

I tried to modify the column property of % Complete and change it to drop down list (with single select). But that seems to destroy the automatic calculation on the parent level. Now the parent level completion percentage requires user input too, which I don't want.

It sounds like you're using the % Complete Parent Rollup feature in Project Sheets, is that right? If so, you're correct - you can either manually add percent values to the child rows to use the Parent Rollup calculation in the Parent row, OR you can set it to be a dropdown list instead, but this would remove that functionality.

I would personally set up the dropdown list with the desired values, but then not restrict the column. This would make it clear to the users that they should select a value from the list. Then you would need to create a formula in the Parent row to do the rollup percent for you. (It does mean the users could potentially type something else in the child rows if they wanted to.)
