How do I save a automation/ workflow as a template
I would like to save my automations as templates so I can use them in other sheets without rebuilding them. Is this possible?
Thanks

Hi @A Burtram
I hope you're well and safe!
Unfortunately, it's not possible now, but it's an excellent idea!

I second that! This would be a very handy feature! Currently when I find I've created a new workflow that I'd like to reuse on other sheets, I go back and build it in all of my applicable sheet templates. That way it will carry forward as I used those templates to create sheets. However, this does not help me for existing sheets. Also, it's a ton of work recreating the same workflow dozens of times!

This would be a very nice feature to add. I am having to create the same automations over and over, even being able to copy and paste would be helpful. Looking forward to seeing this feature added.

I've just discovered that saving a sheet as a template helps in part - conditional formatting saves to the new sheet, but not workflow automations.

I hope you're well and safe!
It should also work for Workflows, but you must ensure that you select the correct settings.
Did that work/help?
I hope that helps!

@Andrée Starå what about sharing? I have some task list sheets that we use as a template and they have to be shared with specific people. Even though the sheets are shared before I save them as templates, when I use the template to create a new sheet, the new sheet isn't shared with anyone. The automations remain, but I get notices that the workflows are invalid because the sheet isn't shared with those people.

Hi @mauekat
I hope you're well and safe!
Unfortunately, it's not possible to keep it shared now, but it's an excellent idea!
- I'd recommend maybe creating a Contact Group to share it easily.
I hope that helps!
