How to set up automations that are initiated when status changes in card view
Hi there, I set up my smartsheet in grid view so that when the status is changed then it sends emails to certain people to let them know a job has been approved or declined. It also then copies the line to another spreadsheet to be included in a larger production calendar.
However, when I change the status in card view, then go back and look at the grid view, though it does show the change in status, none of the automations run.
Anyone have any luck getting around that?

Moving a card from one lane to another will change the value of that cell in Grid View. This is the same action as if you had manually updated the dropdown list in Grid View, and so the automations you set up should trigger the same way for either action.
Is it possible that there is something else stopping the workflow from running? (Ex. a condition block that's filtering out the rows, or the automation permissions set on that sheet.)
It would be helpful to see a screen capture of your workflow set-up and your underlying sheet, but please block out sensitive data.
Thanks!
Genevieve

Thank you @Genevieve P. - Your suggestion to check the automation permissions helped me solve the problem as to why we kept getting notices that the job requestors were not getting the approved/declined job emails that I'd automated once our designer chose to take on the job or not.
I think to be honest, the whole issue with the automations not working in card view may have been summed up to us not being patient since it takes a little longer than it does when we do it in sheet view. Also, I learned if you save the sheet right after moving it forward in card view, it does help it go a smidge faster.
Thank you for your quick response and insight!
