Highlight fields to fill in in the Smartsheet mobile app ?

Hi !

I have some people in my company using Smartsheet on their mobile device and asked me if it was possible to highlight the fields they have to fill in in the sheet view.

I colored the columns on my laptop but as I could imaging it it doesn't change the color in the mobile app.

Would you have any idea/suggestion how could I highlight these fields for my users ?

Thank you for your help

@Raphael Lng How do you know which fields they need to fill in?

    • can you create a form for them to fill in instead of going into the sheet itself?
    • can you lay out a report that has just the columns they need to fill in?

    Hi @Dale Murphy,

To explain you the workflow, it is like a ticket system for maintenance:

    1) customer has the link to smartsheet form

    2) When new ticket is submitted, our employees need to assigned the ticket and then complete it with the time they spend on. it's these information I would like to highlight from their mobile device.

I didn't thought about the report function but I guess I will have same issue in the mobile view ?

@Raphael Lng My experience is that cell formatting is visible on all platforms (desktop and mobile) unless it is explicitly turned off (some report layouts allow for that). So your team should be able to see a highlighted column on a sheet, mobile or not.

The advantage of a report is that you can display only the columns the team needs to see. That may help, unless the team needs to see the full row of information to properly perform their task. But if (like teams I have led) they want a list of all tasks they have worked on for a week, and a way to quickly fill in the time for each of them, then a simple report might suffice.

Maybe put the "Time Spent" left-most in the sheet so it is easy to find?
