Change status of a child row based on parent row

Hello, all! Is there a way to change all the statuses for child rows based on a parent row?

Let's say I have a project to grow an orchard (parent row). It would have subtasks, like buying saplings, procuring fertilizer, and creating a watering schedule (child rows). If I have to scrap the orchard project, I'd mark it as N/A, which means its child rows would also be N/A.

Can Smartsheet do this, or do I need to manually update these rows?

I appreciate your help!

    Hi @Amber Eakin

I hope you're well and safe!

I assume that the Children rows can have different manually set values already.

You could add a so-called helper column where you'd check the Parent row, and if it's N/A, it will populate the helper with a Checkbox or N/A or something else. You'd then use that to trigger a Workflow with the Change Cell Action that would change the values of the Children rows to N/A.

    Make sense?

    Would that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe and have a fantastic weekend!
