Formula to calculate percentage to apply to rest of rows below in "percentage of countries" column
I wanted to calculate the percentages for each country as shown above. But when I got that of the United States, I wanted a formula that would be able to apply to the rest of the countries (in rows) when I hold and move the cursor down. Am getting an error message when I click, hold the cursor and move it down the "percentage of countries" column in order for the percentage to auto calculate. Please what is the formula to help resolve this issue? Thanks

Your question is a little bit unclear so allow me to ask a couple questions.
- Can you share the formula that works for row 1?
- Are you looking to copy the formula down in order to get the percentage for all 11 countries?

Hi,
This this the formula
=[Population Total]@row / [Population Total]
And to your second question, yes I want to copy the formula down in order to get the percentage for all 11 countries.
Thanks

Hi @daoppong
It looks like you're missing the row reference for the Total that you're dividing by.
Try this:
=[Population Total]@row / [Population Total]$13
This will lock it to the 13th row so that as you drag fill the formula down, it doesn't change what cell the final total is looking at.
See: Create a Cell or Column Reference in a Formula
Cheers,
Genevieve
