Approval Workflow with lock & unlock rows

Hi, it seems, that Smartsheet does not allow to lock rows during an Approval request workflow!

The process should be:

Step 1: Starting an Approval workflow on the entired row with a field trigger!

This is completely satisfactory

Step 2: During the Approval request the fields of the entired row should not be changeable!

This could be done with "Lock rows". But after locking, the user isn't able to approve or to decline via sended Smartsheet request!

The question is:

How can I protect fields within a row as long as the requested approval is not answered. The row could only be "Unlocked", when the Approval request has been "Declined" for further changes.

Great idea! That would be a great addition to Smartsheet features.

Please submit an Enhancement Request when you have a moment.

Here's a possible workaround or workarounds

Add an alert or similar that triggers on any change when the Approval is waiting and not answered.

Would that work/help?

It is a work arround but I don't understand all the missing features within Smartsheet.
