Hard Code a Copied Cell

Options

SHEET 1: has an auto-number field.

SHEET 2: I am copying (via automation) the data from SHEET 1 to SHEET 2. SHEET 2 already has an auto-number field.

When the rows are copied from SHEET 1 to SHEET 2 auto-number fields go into the existing auto-number field.

I believe this is because you can only have ONE auto-number field per sheet.

So my question is.... is there a way to HARD CODE the auto-number field in SHEET 1 (into its own seperate column that is not auto-number column) so I can, in turn, copy that HARD CODE number can be moved to SHEET 2?

Thanks!

    Hi @Teri Ann

I hope you're well and safe!

Here's a possible workaround or workarounds

    • You could add a so-called helper column that references the auto-number column in the source sheet, and in that way, it will be stored in the destination sheet.

    Would that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe and have a fantastic week!
