What would cause a highlighted cell content to get deleted during autosave?

Check that your computer doesn't have a program called "Caffeine" (or some other similar program). Basically what it does is automatically "hits" the space bar on a regular basis to keep the computer awake. If you have a cell highlighted when this happens, the space will override the data currently in the cell the same as if you had typed it yourself.
