Workflows on cells that are connected to external sheets.

Hi,

I have a problem with the workflows not triggering for values that are changing based of external links. I have looked around and have come to realization that Smartsheet has disabled the ability for workflows to trigger based on cells that are linked to external sheets. I am now stuck with a massive problem.

So the solution to the workflow not triggering is a workflow that is triggered by time, but I need it to trigger every hour, which I can't figure out how to do.

This is the problem:

SheetA is sheet at sums values from SheetB by using SUMIF(). When the total of the sum goes above a specific value, it needs to trigger an alert to someone within an hour, and the row needs to be older than 30 min.

Please let me know if this is possible in Smart sheet.

You would need to set up an automation for each hour that you want it to run. The trigger would be date based, then you would select to make it a custom date, set that up to be every 1 day, then adjust the time. Finally setting a condition that the sum is greater than or equal to the limit will only send out those rows that are over.
