Issues with creating a Bar Graph on a Dashboard - Unable to select appropriate data
Hey everyone,
I've got a question regarding a Smartsheet Dashboard.
I have created the outline of my dashboard, and begun to pull some of the figures into it. When trying to pull the two columns I need to create a bar chart (overall employee satisfaction by department) I am unable to actually choose the two columns I need to build the chart. Both are "drop down single select" columns which should be supported by the chart widget. I keep receiving a " Selected data cannot be charted" error whenever I try to select the columns and enter the data into the widget.
Additionally, it doesn't look like I am actually able to select a full column data, but have to select individual cells within the columns - which is likely user error.
Does anyone have experience with this error and how did you work around it?
Thanks!

Charts must have at least one column containing numbers in it. The chart itself does not do the counting. The chart simply displays the values.
Try creating a row report, grouping by the dropdown column then using the summary feature to put the counts in the report. You can then reference this report for the chart.
