Index Match Function Not Working
Hi,
I have an Index Match Function that is only working for some of the rows and coming up with a "NO MATCH"" for others.
It doesnt make any sense to me as it is referencing Auto Numbers that are clear and easy to match.
The formula is:
=INDEX({Contact List Name}, MATCH([Company Index]@row, {Contact List Index}, 0))
Source sheet screen shot.
It seems to me as though once the company index numbers get to 100 or above the Match Function does not work....
Any suggestions or answers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

I did the test with the formula and it works for 100 and beyond. Please check the ranges defined in your case (I assume the entire column is defined as the Index and Name ranges).

Thanks for your prompt response Sameer,
Yes i have referenced the entire column this is why i struggle to see how it doesnt work.
Im wondering if it is a glitch.....

Hi @Boyd
I hope you're well and safe!
I think the issue is whether the numbers are interpreted as numbers or text.
Ensure that both columns are the same.
Did that work/help?
I hope that helps!
Be safe and have a fantastic week!

Thanks Andree for your response.
I have just looked at the column properties and the source sheet is auto number.
Obviously I cannot auto generate the numbers in the sheet I am trying to bring the data in to otherwise they will not marry up.
Do you have any other suggestions? I would like it to be automatic so that as new rows are inserted the existing data will remain the same.
Thanks.

I usually recommend structuring the Destination sheet by manually adding the number for as many rows as you think you'd need.
Regarding the issue.
I'd be happy to take a quick look.
Can you maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s)? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help. (share too, andree@workbold.com)
