Keeping Status Report History

Hello,

Our PMs provide a quick status for their projects on a weekly basis. It's not a full blown/traditional status report. They just update a few columns (i.e., Current Status, % Complete, RYG indicator, etc.) in a sheet for each project.

Is there a practical way of keeping status history? In other words, keep the weekly statuses provided by PMs). I don't want to keep the history of all the other columns in the sheet. I just want to keep the history of the few columns mentioned above.

I know I can dump the sheet data to Excel and then manipulate it, but that's very manual. I know I can copy rows (weekly?) to another sheet, but I only want the few columns in question, not the entire set of columns.

Any thoughts, please?

Thank you,

Ron Br.

    Hi @Ron Br.

I hope you're well and safe!

You could use cross-sheet formulas combined with either a VLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH structure to connect the sheets, and when you update the source sheet, it will reflect on the destination sheet.

Another option would be to use so-called helper sheets. In short, copy the row to a helper sheet and then use my method described previously to get the values you need to another helper sheet, and then copy/move the row from that sheet to the main destination sheet.

    Would that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Be safe and have a fantastic week!
