Filtering in a sheet

I'm creating a filter where i select a few items from a list and also blank items. But when I apply the filter it doesn't return the blank items? i can create the filter using the "any of the following conditions" but then i can't include other conditions that i want. Any idea why the blank rows aren't returned?

Is there any plan to create a more flexible system for filter instead of all AND or all OR conditions? Where you could have a combination of ANDs and ORs?

My guess is that the "Blank" cells aren't really blank.

Can you describe your process in more detail and maybe share the sheet(s)/copies of the sheet(s) or some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.

I think the cell is actually blank, because i created this filter:

and it does return the blank rows. We would like to add another condition for a different field, but can't do that because it has to be all ORs. somehow it seems like the "is blank" works differently that the blank checkbox in the other filter.
