Is it possible to have a column with the total number of items and when that number changes, it will automatically change on corresponding other sheets of the same items? Hope I'm making sense.

Using Excel: it is possible to place an "=" sign in a cell and on another sheet click on a cell and press enter and it "links" the 2 cells so that if a number in the original cell changes, it also changes it on the other linked cell too. Is it possible to do this in Smartsheets?

No, you'd use cross-sheet formulas instead and select the range in another sheet.

Another option could be to use cell linking.
