Question on Form Security

I have created a form to gather and distribute information from and to my customers.

One of the things I have provided on my form is a box into which they can drop documents, i.e. Tax exempt forms, Credit Applications, Business References, etc.

My question is, How secure is that file transfer? Thus far, we are only collecting documents that would reveal only publicly available information, so security isn't a huge concern. However, we currently call customers to get Credit Card information as I am not comfortable collecting that data on a publicly available open form. But I am curious about attachments. Would attachments be a secure way to pass that information?
