Counting rows between two sets of dates

Hi Smartsheet Community,

I'm trying to figure out how to count a row if the date column falls between a set of dates.  Basically, I'd like to use the COUNTIF formula and count the row if the date is between 07/01/17-09/30/17.  

Any ideas on how to do this?  I'd rather not add in an additional check box, just base the formula off the date column.
