Hi everyone,

I'm new to smartsheet and I'm having a hard time seeing how I can add up multiple ratings that contain words and then divide them to get the ratings...

Employee Rating:

3 - Meets Expectations Performance

5 - Significantly Exceeds Expectations

3 - Meets Expectations Performance

5 - Significantly Exceeds Expectations

5 - Significantly Exceeds Expectations

Which is 24 and then divided by 6 would be 4 if somehow I could also link it to my rating scale to also include the narrative would be great.

I would suggest a helper column to pull the number into its own cell.

=VALUE(LEFT([Employee Rating]@row))

Then you can average this column and drop the average into a nested IF statement to output the desired text based on the numerical average.
