'Change Cell Value' Automation Has Stopped Working

Hi all,

I have the below automation in place on one of my sheets. It was working for a short time, but within the last week it has completely stopped.

For context, the 'Shot By CQ' column is formula based and automatically stars itself when conditions are met in one of my other sheets.

This seems simple in theory, but I'm aware that certain functions can block automation triggers.

Any insight would be appreciated, thank you!

• If you can change the trigger to it being date/time triggered instead, it should work.

@estineford That is correct. The best we can do with cross sheet references is setting up the automation to be date triggered and use that cell containing the cross sheet reference as a condition. If you need it more frequently than daily, you can adjust the time when setting up a date based trigger and then duplicate it for a different hour.

Automations cannot be triggered by a cross sheet reference.

So even though the cross-sheet reference formula is making an actual change to the sheet that houses the automation, that change cannot be the trigger for the automation?

I'm encountering same issue today. Change Cell Value or Clear Cell Value always work as it is instantly when triggered. There's never any need to do a workaround regardless of whether is it instant or date/time based. It should also work with the Run Now command. I tried everything, refresh, refresh sheet, restart chrome, reboot mac.

Following my comment above, I set the trigger to be time based. When the set time passed I checked and refreshed...nothing has changed. I checked the workflow, it shows that it was executed at the set time.

I just tried this one (specifically on the cells with the condition above but without condition). Worked instantly. I suspect smartsheet developers were working on the system?
