Is there a way to reset the auto number to 1? I've been testing formulas on this sheet and even though I have deleted the lines it is still counting them. Is there a way to reset it?

    Hi @TAbs

I hope you're well and safe!

Yes, there is a way to start over again.

    Try something like this.

    1. Change the column properties from Auto-Number/System... to Text/Number
    2. Save
    3. Delete the numbers you don't want
    4. Save
    5. Delete the rows with the numbers you deleted
    6. Save
    7. Change the column back to Auto Number and change the Starting Number to the number you'd like the next added row to be
    8. Save
    9. Add a new row
    10. Save and watch the magic happen

    Did that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

Have a fantastic week & Happy New Year!

  • Hi Andree this did not work for me, it did not reset to "1"?

    Any other ideas?

  • Hey @Gretchen Good

@Andrée Starå's steps above look good to me! Is it possible that you may have missed a part of Step 7, where you would need to change the Starting Number when you go to set up the column as Auto Number again?
